Urban Greening Grant for Westlake/Pico Union
In March, the California Natural Resources Agency’s Strategic Growth Council awarded People for Parks a 2-year $250,000 Prop 84 planning grant to evaluate five elementary schools in the Westlake/Pico Union neighborhood as possible Community-School Parks. This low-income, densely populated district is one of the most park-poor areas in Los Angeles. PFP is working with LAUSD, city officials and landscape architects to create a sustainable urban greening strategy for schools and their adjacent public rights of way.
