Charity Buzz Auction to Benefit La Rocha Trail
People for Parks is working with Friends of La Rocha Trail and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority to purchase 10 lots adjacent to the La Rocha Trail, a rare stretch of natural green space in the Hollywood Dell area. The trail offers a safe place for the public to walk, jog or just find a peaceful sanctuary from traffic and congestion. Help us protect this special area from development and preserve it as permanent green space. Join us at Charity Buzz for an online auction at www.charitybuzz.com. Because a percentage of the proceeds goes to PFP, every dollar you spend helps us fulfill our mission.

Jack Foley Inducted into State Parks Hall of Fame
The California Park and Recreation Society inducted Jack Foley into the group’s Hall of Fame in a Sacramento ceremony this spring. Foley helped found People for Parks more than 20 years ago. He continues to lead PFP, also heads the L.A. Parks Alliance, and has written extensively on the challenge of maintaining public recreation during the ongoing economic crisis. He focused on urban recreation during a long teaching career at CSUN.
Among those honored at the March ceremony with Foley, seen at right in the photo, were Russ Guiney, Director of the L.A. County Dept. of Parks and Recreation, who received the CPRS Citation award, and Dr. Fred Brooks, professor emeritus at Chico State University, who was also inducted into the CPRS Hall of Fame.
